Dempsey's first picture in her first sequence was showing some great stop motion of a little girl while she was running. I really liked the asymmetrical balance with the dark grass, light sidewalk then the darker clothes on the young girl. It really balanced out nicely. I also see the rule of thirds taking place in the first photo, which is sort of defined by the asymmetrical balance of the colors. The first photo was more of an open frame while the second photo in the sequence was a closed frame focusing on the little girls clothing and showing a sequence of events of her running towards the camera and getting real close.
The second sequence of photos was the blurred motion. This photo is a closed frame with movement as well as an alternate point of view. I honestly wouldn't think of a stroller/wagon to demonstrate a blurred motion. Dempsey used a very slow shutter speed to capture this sequence as she said the stroller wasn't even moving very fast.
Her final photo sequence is by far my favorite. It is the perfect definition of sequence of events. Who doesn't love picking a dandelion and blowing it in the air? The focus was perfect and the fast shutter speed was needed in order to capture blowing seeds and fluff. Dempsey took this picture because it reminded her of what her mom always told her and that is that it is always easy to get carried away in the wind and that you need to hold your ground. This photo was taken back in Longview, Texas where she often spends some lovely quality family time together.
