1. Dempsey's first light photo is really cool in regards to the bright light and darker light balance. This photo doesn't really appear in focus but it may just be because of the bright light reflection, it appears out of focus. Compositionally this photo is a closed frame and often wants my eyes to know whats surrounding this image and what i am looking at. There is also some great asymmetrical balance with the light and the object laying in the water.
2. The second photo is one of my favorites. Even though this photo is in black and white and you cant see the amazing colors that would have come from this image, i really love how you can see the suns rays through the trees. Dempsey took this picture because she really liked how the entire frame/space was filled by the tree and within the frame all of the small branches, leaves and lines. There is converging lines everywhere in this picture and the dark tree balances well with the complete light and bright shining sky.
3. This third photo is just precious! Lots of love happening all around! Dempsey is actually in this photo (if you cant tell) but she DID set the ISO/Aperture/Shutter and exposure herself and let someone simply push the button. The balance with color is perfect and absolutely beautiful! This photo is a closed frame and in my opinion could fit into the rule of thirds category. Each person is on a third with the center being where all the light is entering.
4. Dempsey's fourth photo in my eyes is almost a optical illusion. The change from a calm water to a more busy water is very interesting. I can definitely see a rule of thirds in this image as the darkness of bumps along the left side of the frame and the two trees balances well with the three trees on the right hand side. Dempsey took this picture because she wanted to capture a true image of Lake O' the Pines, and what it reminds her of.
5. Dempsey is full of love and this picture she took because of the brightness that is shining through their hands which are shaped into a heart. It reminds her that there is always brightness shining through peoples heart. Compositionally there are many curvilinear and converging lines within the tree and a lovely asymmetrical balance with the colors of the sky which are also reflected on the lake and the darkness that divides them, along with the tree and the two peoples hands which are placed on the axis of the rule of thirds.
